The Espada was Lamborghini’s 4-Seater when they were transitioning from grand touring cars to the supercars they would become known for.
About the Espada
When you or I think about Lamborghini, 2-seat supercars come to mind. But Ferruccio Lamborghini’s initial vision was to build the luxury grand touring cars that he wanted and no one was building to his standards.
The Lamborghini Espada was a 4 seat grand touring car that the whole family could take on a road trip. It had the perennial Lamborghini V12 under the hood in the front; otherwise, the car was a fairly practical daily driver.
The combination of the Espada and the Islero replaced the 400GT 2+2 as the touring car in the Lamborghini line. The first of the Lamborghini supercars, the Miura, was sold alongside the Espada.
